Endowment Gifts

PROVIDING CONTINUOUS SUPPORT

A university’s endowment is essentially a trust: It is the income-generating body of investments that is maintained in perpetuity and underwrites the institution’s operations.

Donors to the endowment designate their gifts for specific purposes such as scholarships, professorships, fellowships or special programs. Endowed gifts are invested directly, with the generated income used to fulfill donor requests

The investment committee of the Board of Trustees manages the endowment. Investments are conservative and diversified, and they include domestic and international equities, as well as fixed-income investments. The managers balance the need for immediate revenue with the necessity of preserving assets for the future.

Whatever cause, project, or program you’re looking to support, we have a giving opportunity to match your needs. By endowing your gift, you will be making an investment that will have a lasting impact.

For this reason, many donors elect to name endowments: to honor a family member, a favored professor, or mentor; to preserve the name of their family foundation; or to create a personal legacy.

Supporting the endowment will ensure that adequate provisions are made for the future of NJIT students, faculty, programs and facilities.

An endowed gift:

-Offers the university the flexibility required to initiate unique, new disciplines that will offer prestige and recognition to benefactors and beneficiaries

-Ensures funding levels for university departments, programs and operations

-Assists by alleviating the annual increase in tuition by providing needed financial aid

-Provides donors with an opportunity to create a legacy or honor a loved one while supporting the people and programs here at NJIT
