ANNOUNCING THE LAUNCH OF THE HIGHLANDER HISTORY PROJECT

About the Highlander History Project

Developed in conjunction with PCI, a reputable publishing company, the Highlander History Project seeks to record and compile favorite memories, heartfelt stories, anecdotes about professors and classmates and campus recollections from all NJIT alumni.

Over the course of the next few months, we will use these stories in two ways: 1) a professionally-designed book, including photos and excerpts, which will be available for sale individually or with a package of NJIT gear; and 2) class notes, which will be shared in the NJIT Magazine, class reunion yearbooks, and on alumni social media. 

Our vendor, PCI, is reaching out on our behalf. We have partnered with a publishing company called PCI. You can read more about the company at their website. If you haven't already, you will soon receive a postcard and/or an email that look like this:

 

Submit your story online

Although you will hear from PCI, the Highlander History Project is authorized by us. Their staff are handling the solicitation and coordination of stories, but all content comes back to NJIT. This partnership allows us to maximize our outreach to all alumni. By collaborating with PCI, we are able to access their trained staff of real, live human beings who are excited to listen to what you have to share. PCI also collects and assembles the stories into the Highlander History book that we can share with all Highlanders.

Your privacy is paramount! Your information will not be shared with any other company or organization. 

What can you share?

You will be asked a few basic questions, like:

Did a special faculty or staff member have a profound impact on your life?
Did you meet your significant other at NJIT?
Can you trace your career path back to a defining moment at your alma mater?
Have connections you made on campus turned into lifelong friendships?
Were you on campus during a historical moment?

Do you have to buy anything?

No! This Highlander History Project is being conducted at NO COST to NJIT alumni. The Project is completely free to alumni. PCI does offer the option to purchase the Highlander History book that will be produced at the end of the project, along with other NJIT branded merchandise, such as a travel bag and a tee shirt. You are welcome to purchase these items, but you are not required to do so to participate in the Project.

What's next?

If you haven't already, you will be receiving email and postcard communications from the PCI team with instructions on how to participate. We will collect stories until October 2020. After that, we will compile everything we've received, send to our designers, and begin sending the published book in spring of 2021.
